A little something about DJ Atle and the track told by Atle
Back in the days I used to run an outfit called Brother Brown who made quite a career out of doing both our own songs and remix work for big artists.
We started out releasing our first couple of tracks on labels like Yoshtoshi, Slip’N’Slide and FFRR doing mixes for labels such as Hope Recordings and ended up doing remix work for artist such as Madonna, Chrstina Aguilera, Cher and Pet Shop Boys, with several of our mixes hitting no. 1 on the Billboard Clubplay Chart.
Musicwise I did a couple of remixes under my own name Atle for small independent labels a couple of years ago – Welt Recordings (Nima Gorji) Tic Tac Toe and Connect Four – but since we suspended Brother Brown in 2003 I’ve been focusing mainly on Dj’ing and running my own club night’s called Selector Superior & Knuckles here in Copenhagen,
the first being widely acclaimed as probably the best night out here at the moment.
However great it has been to focus on the more socal side of my work I’ve lately felt the need for doing new music crawl back under my skin, so after several years of productional silence I’ve finally hauled my a** back to the computer to do some tracks, Five Fathoms being the first official result of my efforts.
Style wise I consider it to be very close to the original Brother Brown sound, it has in fact been my clear intention to bring that deep melodic vibe and sound we used to pioneer back in the late ’90s up date since I felt it both relevant for the scene today and challenging for me on a personal level.
